About the Beating Heart Doula
Adriane Knorr, a PNW native through and through. From attending both Oregon State University and the University of Oregon, loving whatever the outdoors throws at me, to being your average "Eugenian"; you know the type, thinks she's totally normal until she meets someone from literally anywhere else in the US.
With my doula practice I love to work with women of all backgrounds, experiences, and situations. As your doula, I will help you to achieve the birth YOU want without any qualms or questions on my part. I believe that if you've elected to have a C section, are going 100% drugs, au natural, or anywhere in between- you deserve to have someone by your side coaching you and/or your family both physically and emotionally.
I am currently accepting offers from Naturopathic Medical Schools around the US and Canada. Super exciting, also damn near terrifying. It's been about a 1.5 years of being entirely uncertain where I will be ending up this fall (hint, leaning towards Portland,Oregon), and I'm very very ready to have a plan.
Now, the nitty gritty "why am I qualified to help you bring a child into the world?" I am trained through Birth Arts International and their standards of practice are strongly upheld by my own practice. I graduated with a degree in philosophy and I have a strong foundation accorded to me by three years of an "Exercise and Sports Science" and "Human Physiology" curriculum. Because of the juxtaposed importance of medicine and philosophy in my life, I can bring a fresh take to your birthing process. I have been published by the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and Gonzaga University for my work with Gendered Perceptions and Emotions of Intercourse and Trauma.
